The Uzbek Government asked for Pakistan’s support in
gaining access to Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement (QTTA). The Uzbek
Government wants to obtain the utilization permission for Karachi and Gwadar ports
for the purpose of trade.
Uzbek Government Deputy Minister made a formal request
to the advisor of Pakistan’s Prime minister in this regard. The QTTA is transit
deal between Pakistan, China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to promote trade
between these countries. A road project under CPEC is also in work to link
china and central Asian countries to national ports.
It is also in news that Uzbekistan has also proposed
the establishment of joint working group to promote trade and investment
opportunities between these countries. It will further grow the bilateral trade
in different sectors like agriculture, construction, tourism and textile.
