The Punjab Government has allocated PKR 40 billion for multiple development projects across Lahore, further strengthening the city’s infrastructure and urban growth. This decision was made during a meeting on February 20, focusing on ongoing and upcoming development initiatives.

Major Developments in Housing & Real Estate

The government’s flagship housing initiative, “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar,” is making remarkable progress, with 80 houses completed within four months. Additionally, a record number of home loans have been disbursed, making homeownership more accessible for residents.

Infrastructure & Public Welfare Projects

Beyond real estate, the Punjab Government is investing in essential sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and heritage conservation:

• Healthcare: 1,250 basic and rural health centres upgraded, 1,200 dispensaries established, and 432 health projects completed, with the next phase now in progress.
• Agriculture: The Kissan Card program has facilitated PKR 50 billion for tractor purchases, while PKR 9.5 billion has been allocated for tube wells, with PKR 2.5 billion already utilized and an additional PKR 6 billion set for distribution.
• Heritage Conservation: Restoration work on five major archaeological sites is nearing completion, expected by March 2025.

Punjab’s Expanding Development Budget

The total development budget for Punjab has been increased from PKR 882 billion to PKR 1,048 billion, with PKR 693 billion already released and PKR 401 billion spent on various initiatives. Currently, 547 development projects are in progress, including:

·      815 General Development Initiatives

·      3,007 District-Level Schemes
