Fareena Mazhar (The secretary Board of Investment) stated
that Pakistan is planning to renegotiate Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT),
according to the new template given by the government.
The government is creating a new framework with the help
of the United Nations Conference of Trade and Development. She also stated that BIT
partners have reached several agreements with Pakistan.
Pakistan has just signed 53 Bilateral Treaties with
different countries in which 32 BITs are in force, 5 have been canceled and 16
have been signed but not in force. In this regard, the Government has created a
New BIT template with recognized experts and UNCTAD.
