The Lahore Development
Authority (LDA) has approved the commercialization of four major roads in Lahore,
a move expected to significantly impact property values and business activity
along these corridors.
The decision was taken during
a governing body meeting chaired by LDA Vice Chairman Mian Marghoob Ahmed.
During the meeting, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq briefed members on
several agenda items and proposed amendments to LDA regulations aligned with
recent housing sector reforms approved by the provincial cabinet.
According to officials, the
following roads have been approved for commercialization:
·
College Road: From
Ghazi Chowk to UET Roundabout
·
Defense Road: From
Bhobtian Chowk to Kahna
·
GT Road: From
Quaid-i-Azam Interchange to BRB Canal
·
Barki Road: From
Ring Road to BRB Canal
The
commercialization of these major routes is expected to open new opportunities
for businesses, increase commercial property demand, and boost investment in
surrounding areas.
The governing body decided to
postpone the commercialization of:
·
Sabzazar Road from
Liaquat Chowk to Multan Road
·
Samanabad LOS Road
Officials did not specify a
new timeline but indicated the proposals may be reviewed again in future
meetings.
The meeting also discussed
progress on the city’s long-term development roadmap. Members recommended
conditional approval for the completion of Master Plan 2050 in accordance with
court directives. In addition, authorities reviewed proposals related to the
replanning of a sewage treatment plant site in LDA City.
Several additional agenda
items were approved during the session, including matters related to the
Directorate of Sales and Allotment and the remodeling of the LDA Avenue One
Civic Centre.
Officials also announced the
launch of an Executive Transfer Service in LDA City, enabling residents to
transfer plots through a streamlined process similar to other LDA housing
schemes. The initiative aims to improve convenience for property owners and
enhance service delivery.
Real estate experts believe
the commercialization of these major roads will likely increase commercial
activity and raise property demand in nearby sectors. Investors and developers
often look toward such government decisions as indicators of future growth
corridors in Lahore’s property market.
