On October 15, it was reported that Modern Ceramics
Sanitary Ware (Pvt) Limited, a leading Chinese company, plans to invest over
PKR 8 billion in Punjab's industrial sector. This significant investment was
confirmed during a meeting between the company's delegation and key officials
from the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) held at the PBIT
headquarters.
The meeting, attended by PBIT Chairman Muntaha Ashraf,
CEO Suhail Saleem, and Board Member Ahmad Ali Tariq, focused on finalizing the
company's strategy to establish a modern manufacturing facility in the Allama
Iqbal Industrial City (AIIC). The project aims to cater to the increasing
domestic demand for sanitary ware while positioning Pakistan as a major
exporter of high-quality sanitary products to international markets in the
Middle East, Africa, and other regions.
This investment is expected to create over 500 jobs,
providing a significant boost to the region's economic growth. It will also
support import substitution by reducing Pakistan's dependence on imported
sanitary products, saving valuable foreign exchange, and improving the
country's trade balance.
PBIT Chairman Muntaha Ashraf assured the delegation of
the board's full support, emphasizing the commitment to facilitating the smooth
setup of the manufacturing unit through PBIT's dedicated facilitation wing.
This initiative marks a crucial step in expanding Punjab's industrial base and
enhancing Pakistan's competitiveness in global export markets.
