Punjab Chief Minister Maryam
Nawaz Sharif has announced groundbreaking initiatives to address the province's
housing and economic challenges, including raising the loan limit under the Apni
Chhat, Apna Ghar Scheme to PKR 2 million and the construction of 500,000
housing units over the next five years. This ambitious plan aims to provide
affordable housing solutions and boost economic growth across Punjab.
Speaking at the launch
ceremony of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Livestock Card in
Pakpattan, the Chief Minister emphasized the critical role of the Apna Ghar
Scheme in tackling Punjab’s housing crisis. The scheme’s increased loan
limit from PKR 1.5 million to PKR 2 million will empower low-income families to
build or purchase homes that cater to their needs and aspirations. The
initiative is designed to uplift rural and urban communities by providing
interest-free loans, ensuring greater accessibility to homeownership.
To further alleviate housing
shortages, the government plans to construct 500,000 affordable housing units
within the next five years. This initiative aims to address the growing demand
for residential properties in Punjab while contributing to the real estate
sector’s growth. Families across the province, especially in rural areas, will
benefit from this transformative project, promoting stability and economic
empowerment.
In addition to housing
development, Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of metro bus projects in
Gujranwala and Faisalabad next year. These initiatives are expected to
revolutionize urban transportation, enhance connectivity, and provide
cost-effective commuting options for residents. This urban infrastructure
development is set to elevate property values in key areas, making it an
attractive prospect for real estate investors.
The Chief Minister also
unveiled plans to modernize Punjab’s agricultural and livestock industries.
Farmers will gain access to modern machinery available for rent in every
tehsil, eliminating the role of middlemen and ensuring affordability.
Additionally, measures are being implemented to increase local production of
livestock vaccines and introduce QR code-based animal tagging for better
traceability and quality assurance.
Under the Livestock Card
initiative, farmers with fewer than 10 animals will receive subsidies amounting
to Rs 270,000 over four months, provided the animals meet health and weight
criteria. This program aims to enhance livestock production, improve the
quality of meat and milk, and promote exports to meet international demands.
These initiatives underscore
the Punjab government’s commitment to sustainable economic development. The
housing projects and metro bus developments are anticipated to significantly
impact the real estate market, offering lucrative investment opportunities for
local and overseas Pakistanis. Moreover, the focus on agricultural and
livestock advancements will drive economic growth, ensuring prosperity for
Punjab’s residents.
In her concluding remarks,
Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed the provincial government’s dedication to
creating sustainable livelihoods and addressing the housing and economic
challenges faced by Punjab’s population. By prioritizing affordable housing,
improved transportation, and agricultural modernization, the government is
paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
