The "Apni Chhat Apna Ghar" Program, launched
by the Chief Minister of Punjab, aims to provide 100,000 affordable housing
units to eligible residents across the province. This initiative is designed to
improve living conditions for low-income individuals currently residing in
rented accommodations or informal settings. The program is set to deliver these
homes within four and a half years through three distinct execution models.
·
Objective
To construct 10,000
housing units on state land through an equity-based land-sharing arrangement
with developers.
·
Responsibilities
Developers are tasked
with infrastructure development and housing construction, including roads and
utilities. PHATA (Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency) will provide initial
land use plans and ensure adherence to design standards.
·
Financials
Developers will bear all
infrastructure and construction costs. The government will set the price and
payment plan for the housing units.
·
Approval
PHATA will approve layout
and infrastructure plans and will develop trunk infrastructure for each site.
·
Objective
To develop 20,000
low-cost houses within private housing schemes approved by PHATA, ensuring at
least 20% of the residential area is allocated for low-income families.
·
Process
Developers must comply with
APHS Rules 2020. A one-window mechanism will facilitate approvals. PHATA will
determine affordable house prices and sizes.
·
Payments
Allottees will make an
initial down payment into an Escrow account, with the remaining balance paid in
monthly installments over five years. PHATA will oversee the construction and
monitor costs.
·
Objective
To provide interest-free
loans for house construction. A revolving fund will be established for this
purpose.
·

Punjab residents with
plots up to 5 Marlas in urban areas or 10 Marlas in rural areas can apply for
loans online.
